FEATURES OF THE PLANNER

The Planner Program is a software tool used to assist in the process of developing Plans that contain the Goals, Objectives and Activities needed to manage a case, and to help ascertain when the Goals have been accomplished.

The Planner Program has the additional benefit of providing structure. By using The Planner Program, the exact structure can be custom crafted and when once determined, can direct the substance and form of the Plans that are developed. Goals are limited to a pre-existing list of choices, and Objectives are focused to fit into pre-defined categories. In addition, both Objectives and Activities can be selected from pre-existing lists to minimize insignificant variation in terminology.

FEATURES

• The Planner Program has been designed to be very customizable so that it can be useful in a variety of organizations. Juvenile probation departments, residential treatment facilities, therapeutic staff support programs, mobile therapists, children and youth agencies, etc. could all make use of the Planner Program.
• There are a number of customizable lists from which to select options. They range from predetermined goals and sub-categories that organize the Issues to the Issues and Activities and the people who perform them. The lists can be preset and static, or they can be left open ended.
• Individual Plans can be printed from The Planner Program.
• An administrative report is available to view whether all cases are properly populated with Objectives and Activities. This report is particularly useful to organizations that adhere to the premise that to be effective, Objectives need to have associated Activities - otherwise, the Objective should be considered completed. Additionally, all cases should have active Objectives - otherwise the Goals should be considered completed.
• Additionally, tabulated lists of Intermediate Outcomes and Long Term Outcomes can be printed.

The Planner - Screen Captures

After a case is opened, a Goal is selected. The Goal is one of the user defined predefined lists from which a selection can be made.

The next step is to add an Issue. The following picture is of the detail screen for an issue.Action, Topic, Category and Resolution all have drop down lists. Action and Topic also have an option (+) that will allow the user to add new items to the drop down list. And, on the Description, the arrow will combine the Action and Topic into a sentence. Or, as in this example, a different description can be entered.

As Issues are developed they display on the Issue Screen. By Clicking on one of the Issues, the user can move to similar screens for entering and tracking Activities that are associated with that particular Issue.

After entering the Issues, the user then needs to define Activities. Activities will appear on the screen and look similar to the Issues list and Issue Detail that is shown above. Following is one of the reports the program generates. It shows the full information on a case. It shows all the Issues and presents them in the order of their categories. It shows all the active entries (in blue and bold) plus the completed issues and activities (in green and italics), and the dropped issues and activities (in red and crossed out).
